Full-Time Clinical Director – 1:11 Weekends – Full Training Given – Thetford, Norfolk
Leapfrog Recruitment are recruiting for a full-time, Clinical Director for an excellent, multi-site practice situated in Thetford, Norfolk.
You would be working alongside a friendly team with an interest in working towards high clinical standards in general practice. They have one medicine certificate holder and two other vets studying for certificates in surgery and ophthalmology. They encourage and fund development!
There are three sites in Bury St Edmunds, Thetford and Mildenhall. All three branches are fully equipped with consultation facilities, a hospital, operating theatres, dental equipment, digital x-rays and ultrasound machines. You would be predominantly be based at the Thetford branch.
This role would suit a vet who is looking to get involved in the direction of a practice e.g. help influence decisions such as investment in equipment or buildings, mentoring and leading a clinical team of vets, bringing on younger graduates. It also involves less glamorous but often satisfying tasks such as dealing with staff management, client complaints, helping in marketing decisions, rota planning etc.
Salary is commensurate to experience, but I believe we would be offering a competitive rate. Usual perks offered of RCVS fees, CPD budget, 5 weeks holiday, membership to an organisation e.g. the BVA.
Support with relocation can be offered for the right candidate. The successful candidate must be confident in routine surgery and consultations. Previous management experience is not essential as full training will be given.
We would expect the clinical director to join our out of hours rota which is a generous one. Staff work two weekends in every 11 or 12 weeks. One weekend is 'first on call' and one is "second on call". The first on call weekend involves staffing a surgery on Saturday at the Bury St Edmunds branch, a drop-in clinic at Bury on a Sunday between 10-12 and taking the phones outside of these times (except for overnight - see further on).
During the weeknights they take their own phones until 10pm except for a Friday where they go to their out of hours provider at 6.30pm. You would work one first on call night (weekday) one week, then a second on call night the following week.
There is a local out of hours provider who takes our phones after 10pm Monday-Thursday, from 6.30pm on a Friday and from 5.00pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Friday off to the vet on duty after a first on call weekend.
The second on call weekend involves a 3-hour morning surgery at our Mildenhall branch which is paid, then remaining on 'back up' for the first on call vet for the remainder of the weekend. There is no day off the week following this weekend, but it is unusual for the second on call vet to be much used by the first on call vet.
All applications are 100% confidential – before submitting your application to the practice we will contact you to tell you the name of the practice and more information.
